Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Reports Landmark Profit and Strategic Advancements in FY 2025/26 Annual Report

Colombo, 01 September 2026 – Nawaloka Hospitals PLC (CSE: NHL), a pioneer in Sri Lankan private healthcare, has unveiled its Annual Report for the financial year ended 31st March 2026, signaling a period of unprecedented financial recovery and a bold strategic pivot towards technology-driven healthcare. The report, accessible via the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), highlights a record-breaking net profit, substantial revenue growth, and pioneering advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) within the healthcare sector.

Record-Breaking Financial Performance

The financial year 2025/26 marks a significant milestone for Nawaloka Hospitals, delivering its highest-ever net profit after tax of Rs. 1,054 million. This represents an extraordinary 1770% increase year-on-year, underscoring the success of its disciplined financial management and strategic operational enhancements. Revenue for the year surged by 20% to Rs. 13.24 billion, driven by expanding patient volumes and continued growth in medical tourism.

Investor confidence in Nawaloka Hospitals has visibly strengthened, with the company’s share price appreciating by 100% during the year, climbing from Rs. 5.30 to Rs. 10.60. This performance propelled the market capitalization to approximately Rs. 14.94 billion, reflecting robust market belief in the Group’s strategic direction and long-term potential. A crucial factor in this financial turnaround was the full settlement of the facility with Hatton National Bank PLC and its subsequent refinancing through the Bank of Ceylon at a more favourable interest rate, significantly improving the Group’s liquidity and financial flexibility.

Pioneering AI and Digital Transformation

Nawaloka Hospitals PLC is firmly establishing itself as a leader in medical technology integration, a core pillar of its future strategy. The Annual Report highlights several groundbreaking initiatives:

  • South Asia’s First AI-Powered Radiology Suite: Commissioned during the year, this state-of-the-art suite, alongside AI-assisted CT and MRI interpretation, positions Nawaloka as Sri Lanka’s first AI-enabled hospital.
  • AI-DOC Digital Front Door: An in-house developed platform that streamlines the patient journey from symptom selection and diagnosis to suggested laboratory tests and payment, improving efficiency and patient experience.
  • Digital Infrastructure: Continued investment in electronic medical records (EMR), a patient mobile application, and a hospital navigation tool, all aimed at enhancing accessibility and service delivery.
  • AI in HR: The adoption of an AI-powered Applicant Tracking System demonstrates the Group’s commitment to digital transformation across all functions, including talent acquisition.

Unwavering Commitment to Clinical Excellence and Patient Care

The Group’s commitment to clinical excellence and patient experience remains paramount. During the reporting period, Nawaloka Hospitals reinforced its high standards through renewed ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification and obtained Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification for food and beverage handling. The hospital also maintained 100% compliance with the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist across all operating theatres, indicating consistent adherence to global safety protocols.

Further enhancements in patient care included the introduction of a second flexible urology endoscope and a third-generation laparoscopic system, expanding surgical capacity. The Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machine continues to serve critical dialysis cases, a capability rare in the region. Patient satisfaction achieved an impressive 4.8 out of 5 for FY2025/26, with over 90% of feedback issues resolved within 24-48 hours, supported by real-time QR code feedback on invoices and an AI-based chatbot for symptom guidance.

Investing in People and Community Stewardship

Recognized as a “Great Place to Work” during the year, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC invested significantly in its human capital. Training hours amounted to 7,697, with an investment of Rs. 2.12 million in employee training and development. The Nursing Training School and Caregiver Academy continued to provide NVQ-aligned training, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled healthcare professionals.

The Group’s social responsibility initiatives included approximately two free medical camps per month, providing essential health screenings and consultations in underserved communities. Notably, emergency relief camps were organized for communities affected by flooding from Cyclone Ditwah in December 2025. Furthermore, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC was the only private hospital in Sri Lanka to directly contribute to a joint Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament board paper aimed at institutionalizing national policy support for medical tourism, demonstrating its commitment to national healthcare development.

Future Outlook: Building the Hospital of Tomorrow

Looking ahead, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC is poised for transformative growth. Over the next 12 months, the Group plans significant reorganization and upgrading of its facilities to create a more convenient and patient-friendly environment. The subsequent 24 months will focus on aligning infrastructure, technology, clinical services, and operating standards with recognized international healthcare benchmarks. This shift from recovery and financial stabilization to transformation, service excellence, technology adoption, and sustainable long-term growth reinforces Nawaloka’s vision of “Nurturing beyond cure; Stewarding the health of tomorrow.”
