COLOMBO – 09 September 2026 – Janashakthi Finance PLC (JFPLC), a prominent player in Sri Lanka’s non-banking financial services sector, today announced the release of its Integrated Annual Report for the financial year ended 31 March 2026. The report highlights a period of significant strategic evolution, marked by robust business expansion, enhanced operational capabilities, and a commitment to sustained value creation, despite navigating a dynamic economic landscape.

The company, which rebranded from Orient Finance PLC in 2025, underscored its 44-year legacy as a core force, now amplified by its integration within the broader Janashakthi Group. This synergy is reinforcing its foundation with enhanced market confidence and strategic vision, positioning JFPLC for continued growth and innovation.

For the financial year 2025/26, Janashakthi Finance PLC reported notable advancements across key financial metrics:

  • Customer Deposits: Grew by 14.4% to LKR 18,194.6 million, reflecting sustained depositor confidence.

The report notes that comparative figures for FY2024/25 have been restated to reflect prior-period adjustments.

Rebranding and Group Synergy Fortify Market Position

A pivotal highlight of the year was the successful rebranding of Orient Finance PLC as Janashakthi Finance PLC in 2025. According to Chief Executive Officer Sithambaram Sri Ganendran, this transition was “more than a name change; it signalled our evolution into a stronger, more integrated brand, reinforcing trust, improving market visibility, and bringing us closer to a shared vision for the future.” The move also included the relocation of the Head Office to a new, collaborative facility at Bishop’s Gate, Colombo 10.

The Chairman, Rajendra Theagarajah, emphasized that the transition harnessed “Group-wide synergies, strengthens our collective identity, and embeds the enduring Janashakthi spirit across our operations.” This strategic alignment leverages the 30-year legacy of the Janashakthi Group, enhancing JFPLC’s ability to scale, innovate, and deliver value.

Addressing Reconciliation Adjustments and Capital Adequacy

The Annual Report transparently addresses a reconciliation exercise that resulted in adjustments affecting reported profitability and regulatory capital. A detailed review identified an unreconciled debit balance of LKR 270.5 million, for which a full provision has been recognised. While this moderated reported earnings and reduced the year-end Total Capital Ratio below the regulatory minimum (11.86% against 12.50%), the company’s Tier 1 Capital Ratio remained above the minimum (8.83% against 8.50%).

Management has initiated a focused capital restoration plan and is strengthening financial reporting and control processes. The Chairman affirmed that this did not represent a cash outflow or impair the company’s ability to meet its obligations, expressing confidence in the company’s capacity to move forward on a stable and sustainable footing.

Digital Transformation and Customer-Centric Innovation

Janashakthi Finance PLC made significant strides in its digital transformation journey, moving beyond customer-facing enhancements to structural changes in internal operations. Key initiatives included:

  • Advancement of mobile and internet banking.
  • Workflow automation and paperless approvals.
  • Digitised credit processes for improved turnaround times.
  • Leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and business intelligence.
  • Reinforced cybersecurity and data protection measures.

The company also focused on product innovation, developing new savings products and expanding its physical presence with new branches in Kalmunai and relocated facilities in Nugegoda and Ampara to enhance accessibility and convenience.

Commitment to Governance and Sustainability

JFPLC demonstrated its unwavering commitment to strong corporate governance, recognised with multiple awards including two Silver Awards at the SLIM DIGIS 2.5 Awards 2025 for digital marketing excellence and key honours at the 11th CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards and CA Sri Lanka TAGS Awards 2025. These accolades reflect excellence in integrated reporting, governance, and marketing effectiveness.

The Board has elevated Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations to a core strategic priority, embedding ESG within its deliberations and appointing a dedicated ESG Champion. This focus aims to deliver measurable and meaningful impact over the medium to long term, contributing positively to the national economy and communities.

Outlook: Focused on Resilience and Value Creation

Looking ahead, Janashakthi Finance PLC remains focused on converting its strong operating momentum into a more resilient earnings profile. The management agenda includes completing the reconciliation and control-remediation programme, restoring the Total Capital Ratio above the regulatory minimum, and improving profitability and retained earnings. The company will continue to deepen its impact as a trusted financial partner, accelerating growth aspirations while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk management and value creation for all stakeholders.
