Resus Energy PLC Advances Green Energy Portfolio with Successful Bids for Battery Storage Systems

Colombo, 29 September 2026 – Resus Energy PLC (CSE: REUS), a prominent player in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, has announced a significant stride in its commitment to sustainable power generation. The company, through its fully owned subsidiaries, successfully submitted bids for the establishment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) integrated with existing ground-mounted Solar PV power plants.

The announcement, made on 28 September 2026, confirms the submission of proposals by Resus Solar (Private) Limited and Resus Eastern Solar (Private) Limited under a Limited Competitive Bidding process. This initiative aims to establish 150MW AC/600MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems on a build, own, and operate basis, with an operational period spanning 15 years.

Strategic Investment in Grid Stability

The proposed BESS projects are crucial for enhancing grid stability and reliability, allowing for more efficient integration of intermittent renewable energy sources like solar. Resus Energy PLC’s commitment to these projects underscores a strategic vision for a more robust and sustainable energy future for Sri Lanka.

The details of the participating subsidiaries and their proposed BESS capacities are as follows:

  • Resus Solar (Pvt) Ltd: A 100% owned subsidiary, proposing 14 MW / 56 MWh BESS capacity.
  • Resus Eastern Solar (Pvt) Ltd: A 100% indirectly owned subsidiary (through Resus Solar (Pvt) Ltd), proposing 2 MW / 8 MWh BESS capacity.

Cumulatively, Resus Energy PLC’s subsidiaries have bid for a total of 16 MW / 64 MWh in battery energy storage capacity. The company confirmed that the price bids submitted in these proposals were well within the qualifying price range set by the competitive bidding process.

Financial Outlook and Future Prospects

The estimated equity requirement for these ambitious projects currently ranges between Rs. 650 million and Rs. 800 million. This figure is contingent on the final debt-to-equity ratio determined for the project financing.

It is important to note that while the bid submissions have been successful, the final award of these projects remains subject to the relevant approval processes. Resus Energy PLC has assured stakeholders that further announcements will be promptly made upon the official receipt of Letters of Award.

This move by Resus Energy PLC highlights the growing momentum in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy landscape, with BESS technology playing an increasingly vital role in supporting the nation’s energy transition goals.
